best place to stay in dorset.

Any recommendations for a family friendly cottage to stay in. Also best place to stay, thinking about weymouth but can't find out much about the place. Thanks, louise.

Weymouth is good for families. We stay there a lot but at my MIL's so I can't help you on cottages!

We went to lyme regis the year before last and had a fantastic time - it's a lovely area.

We went to Lyme Regis last year too and booked through lyme bay holidays. Just got their brochure. Lots of properties over a wide area.

No good sandy beaches near Lyme Regis. That was a disappointment to us.

I think you need to decide exactly what you want from a holiday ie. Do you want a sandy beach, do you want to be within walking distance of things or would you prefer to be somewhere more rural.

isle of purbeck lovely, loads to do with lil ones, swanage beach, corfe castle and steam train, loved it. We stayed in a lovely, clean yet modern caravan in lookout park near wareham, quiet park just a shop and playground, loved it

Swanage is perfect (perhaps because my parents have a flat there so it's free for us) as chose said, steam train, corfe castle, punch and juy, loads of family friendly places to eat, arcade, pier, proper traditional seaside town with loads to do.

Purbeck, Lulworth Cove, Winftih Newburgh all good places to stay but then I am biased.
