I recently saw a thread about things to do on the Island of Skye but I can't find it.

We're hoping to book a last minute break to Skye and I need your recommendations! DC are 2.3 yrs and 5mths, we would like to go in the next week for approximately 3 nights. Is 3 nights too long/not long enough? We've been to Skye before but never stayed long and never really done anything except eat and drink (pre kids).

Can anyone recommend somewhere good to stay and remind me again of what there is to do there?

We've been but with older dc's, stayed in Portree for 2 nights. If you can't find accomm on Skye itself, you may find some (and a bit cheaper) on mainland by Skye bridge in Kyle of Lochalsh.

Ours were older so we did a lot of walking which you won't manage with children that age. The Cuillins and Glenbrittle are lovely, at end there is campsite & car park by sea, beach is grey shingle but children still enjoyed it. We also went to look round Eilean Donan castle (mainland) whilst up there - a tourist mecca though!

sorry I didnt reply, manage to find a SC cottage in Portree so we left just after I posted.

We climbed to the Old Man of Storr and went to the toy museum and the castle and then relaxed as was only there for three nights.

luckily seeker no midges around, the locals said its July/August when you need the repellant
