My mother has inexplicably decided to fund all of us on a canal boat holiday next summer! When I was 12ish we went on the Llangollen canal and had a fabulous time- I'm sure DSs, then 8 and 10 with enjoy it too. We live in Hants so the Kennet would seem the obvious choice. Anyone been? Any bits you'd avoid of definitely visit? (Not sure about that huge long lock staircase, for instance!). I'm looking for nice scenery and wayside pubs.
I recall the only other canal boat holiday we went on was the- was it Cheshire Ring?- that involved Spaghetti Junction and rubbish and supermarket trolley strewn stretches where you wouldn't have wanted to moor up at night!
