We are staying at Victoria and going to a matinee show and would like a really nice Italian meal in the evening - any recommendations in central London??

I liked this place but it's been a while since I've been. I remember thinking this was positively the best Italian I had ever been to outside Italy, yet curiously haven't made the trip back.

Locanda Locatelli is probably the best to be honest and is absolutely gorgeous. Might be okay mid-week or off-peak times during the weekend.

Is budget an issue?

Would you consider anywhere in central London, or do you prefer close to theatre and/or hotel? If the latter, where is theatre?

Zafferano in Knightsbridge
or Cipriani in Belgravia if you want to see and be seen!
Daphnes in Chelsea is my all time favourite though.
All of the above will need to be booked.
The Square meal website will give you phone numbers and addresses.
Have a good time!

Ooh, you are all stars!!

We are staying next to Victoria Station (going to see Wicked at Apollo Victoria Theatre) - we are seeing matinee performance so it doesn't really matter too much where the restaurant is for the eve as long as it's easily accessible by tube. Would prefer in centre where 'action' is as we'll probably go for a mooch round and a drink afterwards.

Budget not too much of an issue but don't have money to burn!

Where is best based on that description?!

you are in a really good location as to getting anywhere. i like cecconis as you can walk down bond st and do a bit of a window shop then cut thru to regent st, thru soho, have a drink in old compton st, or the fab soho hotel, walk down to covent garden and have another drink then finish off at the embankment, the river is lovely in the evening.
