York with a toddler

I'm taking the dds (3 and 8) to York for three days in a couple of weeks. We won't have the car. Dd1 will be very interested in lots of the attractions but I know dd2 will get bored, so can anyone recommend nice play areas/parks near the centre or a short bus ride away for some running around? Oh, and any recommendations for nice places to eat with children, apart from Spurriergate which is on my list.
Thanks!

I love Little Betty's. Never mind the children, let me have that Swiss breakfast ...

Is that Betty's, but in York? We went to the one in Harrogate and the dds just ran round
and round in circles and shouted "Fat Rascals!" at the tops of their voices. And they're normally so good. Might give it a try, though as it was the best cup of tea I've ever had. Thanks.

Yes! There are two in York - one is like a goldfish bowl and the other is in one of those little narrow streets. Wear dds out first with walking for miles and then take them.

TBH it is a lovely place for grown ups, not esp geared to children so take your own colouring books and maybe chain dds to the table leg ....

Any more ideas?
