Feb half term and new baby??

My dad and stepmum will be coming out next Feb to meet our new addition who will be anywhere from 4-6 weeks old depending on when she arrives - I also have a lovely very energetic 6 year old DD...my dad and wife are ok but the thought of them in my house for 2 weeks solid is a little daunting especially as I will be home with baby (usually am at work for a few days and daughter at school)...so am thinking am I really stupid to think we could go away somewhere for a few nights or is that daft with tiny new baby in the middle of winter??
Obviously we need to stay in UK no flying - relatively short drive from Cardiff (so not Scotland etc)....child and baby friendly (a must) but my stepmum is very high class so not chavvy or caravanny.....was thinking Center Parcs or Wooly Grange but actaully quite pricey that time of year...
Any suggestions or will it be too much with the new babe and should we just brave it out at home???

2 weeks is a long time to have guests living with you, epescially if you are expected to be a hostess.

A trip away is a good idea. We've done that with our inlaws - just picked a nice hotel in a reasonbably touristy place (even if off-season).

The alternative is sending them off on their own for a trip. It sounds like they aren't from the UK, so they might like to do a bit of travelling themselves.

I had a rule with my DH when his parents came to stay that he absolutely had to take the time off work.

How about a cottage in somewhere like devon or cornwall. My friends went to one that had everything for a baby in the house so they didn't ha in north cornwall. may be worth checking out some of big cottage rental firms.
