Nice self-catering / B&B near Ipswich anyone?

I have to follow a course of treatment for 2 weeks near Ipswich. As I live at completely the other end of the country I'd like to rent somewhere so I can be with DP and DS as well. Can anyone suggest something? I also have to go for an initial assessment for a weekend so could do with a B&B. Am quite low about having to go for the treatment so would like somewhere half decent to make me feel better about it all!

Me, Dh and our 2dd's stayed here over the bank holiday weekend. It's not full on posh but very much a home from home, cosy, farmhouse cooking etc. We loved it. I'd guess maybe 20 min journey to Ipswich.

Now this is full on posh! I've never stayed there but know several people who have and have raved about it.

i know ipswich well, but tbh, i wouldnt stay in any of the b&b's!!!

My first choice would be the Novatel or The courtyard hotels, but they will be ££££

If i think of anything will come back.....

Hi Chocolateshoes,

Have always fancied going to Butley Priory, near Woodbridge myself www.butleypriory.co.uk
used to be an old monastery as name suggests but looks likes a lovely place to relax and be looked after if you need it.

Boo - have just phoned them and they are fully booked for the week I wnated. It did look just perfect. Grrrrr! Now I either need to chnage my app dates or find somewhere else. Ideally I need connecting room or a l,ounge so we don't sleep in the same room as DS (cos DS will thing its a great game & stay up all night!).

Hi Chocshoes, I don't know of any specific b&b's but the following areas around Ips are lovely:

Woodbridge
Hintlesham
Chattisham
Hadleigh (about 30 mins away)
Bury St Edmunds (although 30 miles away on the A14)
Witnesham
Tuddenham
Nacton Village (not to be confused with Nacton esate)
Levington
Ashbocking

Hope this helps xx

ok, have asked around and apparently Alderton Hall (www.aldertonhall.co.uk) is nice and in Woodbridge area, think you can book a couple of rooms as family suite. Hope you like and if so good luck with availability!

Hey Jarm - whereabouts?

I lived on Colneis Road opposite the tennis courts? Well i ended up there I was actually in a caraven for 2 years near the port! In my defence I was a HavenMate and that's where the caravan park was.

Used to go the viewing point to watch all the big shipms coming in. I was with a guy for 3 years down there we parted and still in touch - he is now a pilot!!!!

Should also have put:

Dedham, Flatford and East Bergholt - all in(Constable country)
Copdock
Belstead
Stratford St Mary
Tattingstone
Holbrook
Stutton

Where abouts in Ips are you going? I can tell you what side of Ips you will be in, so can narrow down the surrounding areas for you.

my friend has a lovely cottage she rents out in Assington which I guess is about 30 mins from woodbridge. I can find out for you where it is.

I work in Wherstead (ipswich central) and am happy to go and have a look at some places if you need me to [wmile]

Bury St Eds takes 30 mins to Ipswich, a bit longer to Woodbridge. We have some really loevly b&b's in the villages around Bury too.
