Thinking of a visit to Longleat en route to London. Is it worth going? Any tips? Might have to stay overnight - where's a good value place for 2 adults and 2 young kids (under 6)?

try the towns nearby, warminster + frome, for hotels or there are bed and breakfast places there,

only know because we went to centreparcs at longleat last week and are going back in summer to go to safari park,

think bath is also not to far away if you want a travel lodge type of place,
give me the recommedation if you stay in a brill one

Get there early and do the safari last, try and get on the boat for the seal lions first as the queue builds up later ion the day. They aslo do a passport type thing so rather than pay for each thing separately you pay a cheaper price and then can go back another day to finish what you haven't seen.

if you shop at tesco and have clubcard vouchers you can swop them for day out vouchers and use them there

yes - we've just got the Tesco vouchers through - which has triggered the thought of visiting cause it seems such a deal. Is there a travel lodge or something cheap nearby. It'll be in may bank holiday time (kids off school) so hotels might be expensive

Yes the Warminster travelodge is not far and is very reasonable, it is actually based in the motor services.

defo do the safari later in the day and I would suggest pack a picnic as food options limited and expensive IMO. Other than that it's a lovely place to visit

we went there last year with our tesco's vouchers It was a really good day out,
I agree do the safari last but be prepared for the monkeys to rip your car to shreads! the car behind had all its rubber trim pulled off! you can bypass the monkey bit though....
Have a good time

cried with laughter as the 4x4 car in front was mashed by monkeys, how could something so funny be allowed!
Loved the fruit bats.
