Me, dg and dd 13. Staying in Mayfair on a dealie. Done all the usual stuff such as South Bank, London eye, Globe Theatre, Tate etc, Covent Garden, Borough Market. Looking for other suggestions (will be doing New Look and Top Shop Oxford Street!).

Also after some really nice places to eat - preferably with good veggie options as I only eat chicken and often prefer veggie. Any ideas?

Emirates air line from North Greenwich near the O2.

Or the helterskelter at Olympic park.

Eat at Wagamamas.

Mildreds in Soho is a fabulous veggie restaurant - not al that far from Oxford Street. Also roof top restaurant at Selfridges is fab - not sure about the veggie options. And there is the Gate over in Marylebone and Shepherds Bush which are good.

Things you could do (its going to be cold this weekend)

  • ghost walk tour - various ones around the city
  • street art/graffiti tour in Spitalfields/east London
  • check out the wonderlab at the Science Museum (worth getting annual membership if you're likely to come back to London at some point in the next year)
  • Olympic Park combined with Westfield Stratford may be an option?

thanks Jake and Dinky - this is a great start.

would we find the emirates airline exciting if we've already done London Eye?

was lucky enough to go to Olympic park for the Paralympics so may skip that this time and save for a warmer visit!

I like the idea of rooftop dining and ghost and street art tours, plus I was thinking Soho for some colourful nightlife so will look into those a little further - any company recommendations?

Graffiti/street art tours are fun by //www.streetarttours.co.uk - but there are several other companies running them.

This is the link to the Selfridges rooftop dining place - definitely book in advance //www.selfridges.com/GB/en/content/forest-restaurant

There are various companies that run ghost tours depending on the area of London you want to do them in. Friends have done the jack the ripper tours in Spitalfields area (Spitalfields market great for eating and shopping too).

oh, also would Camden markets be something she'd like? I remember going there as a teen and loving all the weird and wonderful stalls. Is it any good or just naff now?

Whispering gallery, St Paul's
Go down to Brixton, look at the renewed shrine outside the Bowie mural, have lunch in Brixton Village.
Greenwich : maritime museum, park, observatory, Planetarium.
See what is on at the iMax

The sky garden if you can get tickets. Best at sunset.

Sky garden looked like a great idea but it's booked :(

Whispering Gallery is on our list for next visit as is Olympic park as we've been for the Olympics and think may be better for a warmer visit so we can hang outside more.

Has anyone eaten at Iran? It looks nearby our hotel and seems interesting.

We are yet to see Rogue One - maybe that would be a good max option but I feel if we are coming to London we should do something we couldn't elsewhere.

Another vote for Greenwich - Cutty Sark is excellent. Amazing ice cream parlour (Black Vanilla?) just round the corner too.
