With an 8 year old in December.
And good neighbourhoods to stay in.
Thanks!

German Christmas market in princes St gardens, museum of childhood on royal Mile, how long are you staying for?

We will have 3 full days from 19 - 21 December.

Need to find somewhere to stay as well.

Want to chill as well as sight see.

Christmas market will be brilliant!
Was thinking of the Castle and going to Leith - is that a day trip?

Leith, I mean.

Also - neighbourhoods? Been looking at Airbnb - Old and New Town. Anywhere else that might be good and central?

Camera Obscura is brilliant.

The Christmas markets at the mound will be on and stuff in St Andrews Square. There will be the street of light on George Street which you may or may not need tickets for. Check out Edinburgh's Christmas website.

The zoo can be fun and a bus tour to see the sights.

Edinburgh schools will still be in school so it will be quite quiet.

Leith is walking distance, about 30 mins from Waverly to 'The Shore' and Royal Yaucht Britannia, although there is the tram which the 8yo might like! You might actually get a serviced apartment on princes St, or there is a few travelodges there too. Is it 1 adult 1 child? Old town is lovely!

There's actually quite a good deal on at the jury's inn hotel- which is pretty central, £126 for those days in family room- the hotel is about 5 mins from St Giles Cathedral which is a gorgeous building.

Lots of great places to visit, thanks.

Looking to stay in an apartment. There's a few on Airbnb that I am looking into.

If anyone has any apartment recommendations let me know.

We had loads of fun at the camera obscura and the zoo.
We stayed at the holyrood apart hotel, which was very good and well located.

We(DH plus DSx2) stayed in very nice Airbnb flat opposite Dynamic Earth in block next to Scottish Parliament. Very convenient plus pool in the complex. Abbey was the host. Reference is "Central yet quiet with parking". It was free on your chosen dates at £125 pn. Short walk to Arthur's Seat.
Public Transport is v good in Edinburgh. Download the Edinburgh Buses App.
