I need a break from all the crap going on and I know my kids do too, we haven't done anything fun together or relaxed properly for ages.

Is there anywhere near to brum that I could take them that is incredibly cheap ?? Can't afford to do anything but I so think we all need it right now before the family completely falls apart.

I don't drive so devon, cornwall etc are not really options as I can't afford the train fare.
Centre Parcs is quite close and my dad would probably take us and collect us but i'm right in thinking they are pricey aren't I ??

Just want to see my kids having a nice time for a change.

Where is the nearest beach type place, does anyone know ?? Don't care about the weather too much.

Geography was never my strong point LOL.

Problem with Centre Parcs is that to do virtually anything apart from the pool, you need to pay...will have a think

Ahh right, I thought as much.

The kids like Butlins type places but it's over £100 for all of us on the coach and it takes 9 hours to get there

There's a big water park place near to Brum...bugger, what's it called...with fab slides and stuff...will ask DP, he'll remember

nearest beach is East Coast...and it's bloody cold at the mo!

Centreparcs is incredibly expensive I think (and I am a luxury hotel kind of person!). I have a feeling Blackpool or somewhere near there might be your best bet geographically. I'm sure someone will be able to be more specific though...

Weston Supermare is the nearest beachy place to the west midlands, just over an hour in the car. Not sure how much train fares etc are but there re loads of caravan places which are very cheap for holidays around there.

Hmm not too sure my dad would want to drive all the way to Weston and back and then back again to collect us.

Tried Alton Towers but that was over £220 for 2 nights bed and breakfast.

Think I am asking for the impossible.

You should do a Sun £9.99 holiday. They are so reasonable.

What sort of activities are you envisaging? Are you actually looking for a holiday village type place? Or would say b&B or a cottage do? Is camping an option? Did you collect any of the Sun £9.50 hols details?

Hmm, not £10 but we stayed in a Travelodge on our way down to Dorset last year, and were talking to the bloke on reception about how busy it was and he said it was because they were so close to Alton Towers. It would certainly be less than £220.

I was going to BH but didn't have the money to send off right after xmas and plus it's getting there thats the problem as most of them are much too far for us.

Not too fussed on the type of holiday. Hadn't really given camping a thought as too cold at the mo, plus I don't own any camping stuff at all.

Just somewhere like Butlins where kids fun stuff is included in price.

HAve you looked at drayton manor near tamworth. Its smaller than Alton Towers but you can camp there, providing you have campiing equipment, otherwise there are places to stay quite near by but not directly on the park i dont think.

OMG everywhere is so expensive.

Will try Drayton Manor in a mo.

Have tried Legoland and Alton Towers, oh and Butlins and Pntins.

I don't know which bit of the Midlands you are in but how about Burnham-on-Sea/Brean Sands (just past Bristol, off the M5).

There are lots of holiday parks - smaller independent ones and bigger ones like Haven, Pontins. I would imagine public transport would be quite good because of all the parks. In fact don't places like Pontins provide transport to/from their nearest coach/train station??

You might be lucky and get a good deal.

if you want the seaside barmouth in wales is probably closest or weston supermare. burnham on sea is a bit further but they've got a fab caravan park there. think its called bream something or over.

also look at people who have their own caravan and let them out. that's often cheaper. there's a site with them on but i can't remember what it's called. i'll try and google it for you.

Oh well never mind, think I am looking for the impossible. Just wanted to give myself and the kids something to look forward to for a change.

Think it'll have to wait a year or 2 at those prices LOL.
