Eldest child is in 2nd year at Plymouth uni. Other than student accommodation, shops for things forgotten and nandos we haven't really seen anything of the area. Youngest child has always been very good about being dragged around but we would like to do more so that we can feel we've actually visited Plymouth.

We are planning 2 or 3 days at half term and would love suggestions of things to do. We did visit smeatons tower on the hoe while dropping eldest off a few weeks ago and all loved it. DS is 10yrs old loves sharks, so thinking the aquarium is a good place to start but what else can we do?

Royal William yard is nice. The barbican has lots of quirky shops.

Thank you I love quirky shops so will definitely take a look. Need some 10yr old entertaining suggestions too as looking in shops does not fill his heart with joy lol

You could drive up to Dartmoor for a picnic and climb a tor. Cremyl foot ferry to Mount Edgecumbe followed by a meal at Royal William Yard is a lovely day out. If the weather is nice rock pooling at Wembury beach about half an hour from Plymouth city centre. Free parking if you're NT members. Another good NT place is Saltram house, or Buckland Abbey which was Francis Drake's place.

If your ten year old isn't too old for it there is a good kids park at West Hoe not far from fabulous sea views. Or there is a big playground near the Life Centre at Central Park.
