Help me decide where to go for a weekend away!

We want to go away somewhere over the second may bank holiday weekend.

I'm thinking of:

Glamping - either Feathedown Farm or //www.wildluxury.co.uk in Norfolk

Or a canal boat on the Thames. We've been on a canal boat before in the Midlands and enjoyed it, thought the Thames would be fun and we could visit Hampton Court, Windsor etc.

Any thoughts or other ideas? Our Dds are 13, 12 and 8.

you have left it really late dancergirl so might have to have what there is rather than a choice. gove changes to term time holidays means everyone is really booked up early this year. also usually as this week is school half term a lot of places will only take a full week booking not a weekend. what about a Travelodge and Cardiff - white water rafting and the castle. Or Bristol - @Bristol science museum is brilliant for kids plus the bridge and SS Great Britain. nice comfy beds for DH as well!

How about Alnwick? It`s up north just past Newcastle. It has Alnwick Castle, where they filmed some of the Downton Abbey Christmas special for christmas just gone & also Harry Potter filmed there too!
It has loads for the kids to do along the lines of wizards, knights, princesses. Lovely gardens with water features, some of which the kids can enjoy & get wet so a change of clothes/swim stuff is needed.
There are shops, museums, a market & plenty of places to eat aswell.
