Balearics Boutique'y Foodie Hotel with Self-Catering?

Hi
DH, DS (3yrs - but quite adventurous eater) and I would like to go to one of the Balearic Islands this summer, probably in May. (Well I'd like to, the other two will fall in!) We'd like to stay somewhere reasonably nice (say up to £150 a night) with good food close at hand, but also the back-up of some sort of self-catering facilities even if it's only a basic kitchenette. A pool is a must and walking/cycling distance to a beach would be ideal. We looked at Hotel Torralbenc in Menorca, which looks lovely and has a great chef, apparently, but a. it doesn't seem to have any self-catering facilities and b. they charge £75 a night (50% of the room rate we were looking at) for an extra bed in the room for our DS, which seems a bit steep, or am I deluded?
Any advice gratefully received.
