Impossible task? One night in Bath at a weekend.

I cannot find a b&b or hotel that will rent a room for a single night at a weekend in Bath. I've tried millions of places now and I'm on the verge of giving up and aiming to go somewhere else. Is it entirely impossible? I've never encountered this before. I can only get away for one night. :(

Have you tried LateRooms? They advertise leftovers, and often one nighters are just that.

Good luck. If you find one, it will also be reduced price..added bonus!

How about a private room at the YHA?

I would like to book it for a few weeks time so that I can also book a table at a restaurant. I'm a bit worried that we won't find anything at all if I go via laterooms. Do you reckon we'd be ok?

Try Pulteney house. We just stayed there. Five minute walk into bath. Lovely rooms.

The youth hostel is brilliant, lots of opportunities for single rooms and it's about a 15 min walk from the centre of Bath.

Have you tried the Travelodge/premier inn? There's one on at the bottom of Widcombe hill which is nothing special but ok.

When you say a few weeks in advance, you don't mean next weekend do you? It's the bath half marathon so will be busy.

Wow, can't offer any suggestions but I'm really surprised, I live near bath and have stayed in a b&b for one night (years ago), v odd

I booked rooms at the Redcar Hotel for one night only. I'd had the same problem as you. It's a great location, quite cheap, has parking if you book early enough. But... It's pretty grotty. Tired and a bit grubby. Not a great recommendation I know, sorry.

The travelodge is £114 without breakfast. I don't mind paying an expensive rate if its a nice place, or even if we got breakfast but its supposed to be a nice break. Its mid March we are aiming for - one night only opportunity.

So if not Bath where else can we go in the south of England?

Bailbrook House seems to let me book for just saturday night first weekend in March...

Salisbury? Definitely has a premier inn just outside the city centre. Also a youth hostel in the town and several hotels/b and bs.

You could try somewhere just outside - Bradford on Avon? I think last train is 11ish but taxi is doable...

And Royal Hotel Bath.
I don't have a clue what/where these hotels are ...but always wanted to be a travel agent when a child so like clicking on reservation buttons.

You're right though that most seem to want a full weekend

What about The Moody Goose ?

It's in Midsomer Norton, which is about 8 miles outside the centre of Bath, but there are regular buses into Bath, or you could drive in?

I did a quick check and it looks like you can book just one night.
