I want to go to a factory, Mummy.....

Just that basically - every single CBeebies program seems to feature a factory of some description (esp nurse gladys on Come Outside), so now DS wants to go to factories to see something being made. I don´t think he´s too fussy about what it is. The only one I can think of is Cadburys World, does anyone else know places to go where you can see things being made etc?

South England helpful, although would travel, we don´t live in UK so would be holiday treat thing.

TIA

not sure where in UK you will be going, but in Plymouth there is a glass blowing 'factory' inside the glass shop in the barbican area.

A lot of the china/pottery companies do them --Royal Worcester , Spode , Wedgewood . So do the Cotswold Perfumery in Bourton on the Water, Hawes Ropemakers in Yorkshire.

Where do you live? There are some international sites listed here .

think i could disguise a distillery trip as educational? perhaps an economic case study of scottish micro industries......

we don´t get discovery. dammit. going to see if i can watch it online maybe?

love to do glassblowing, thanks bellie. I´m sure there is somewhere you can see sweets being made? off we go to google!

thanks all

We took the kids to the John Bull factory in Yorkshire and I always loved the Caithness glass factory. all in Scotland.

Also the Wensleydale Creamery - not far from the Hawes ropemakers which lemonaid mentioned. ds loved both of those.

Quite a few breweries do tours - but that's probably not what you have in mind!

Or Poole Pottery is fairly Southern?
