Cheap accommodation Northumberland??

Don't mind if its a caravan, wooden hut, bunk house, cheap cottage etc. Everything seems so expensive! Cheers

Hi! we've stayed in a very cheap cottage near Ambleside (my favourite seaside town in Northumberland) a few times. It's a bit on the basic side but even in the main school summer hols is £300 a week which is pretty much unheard of! They do have a basic website, google Wooden Farm Holiday cottages (sorry, I'm not very good at doing links!) and it should come up. You can't book through the website, you need to ring but the farmers wife is lovely and can answer any questions etc.

Hannahem, how basic is basic? And from looking at the website it's walkable to Alnmouth, would you think this is about right? Dc are 14, 10 and 8 and quite capable of walking a decent way. We love Alnmouth and are looking for somewhere to do a cheap week to break up the holidays a bit, 9 weeks is a bit too long!!

If you look inland near Wooler you might find prices better.

Owlmother I would say it's the most basic we have stayed in. Kitchen has oven, stove, little fridge with freezer compartment, no dishwasher! Bathroom had a bath but no shower (though they were doing up the cottages when we stayed last year and I think the bathroom was next on the list of things to sort out!). Beds perfectly comfy and living room had TV with free sat but decor dated (think brown patterned carpets etc). We found it clean and more than adequate, stayed in Pond Cottage and enjoyed patting the horses in the next door field every day but go with low expectations and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I suppose it might be walkable to Alnmouth but it would be a long walk, too long for our two ds's but they were 8 and 5 with a tendency to laziness!
