Places to eat in walking distance from Blackfriars

specifically near the IBIS Hotel (SE1 8NZ)?

I'm not based in London and meeting a someone over from US for dinner and to discuss some business things... both staying in the IBIS, but on a tight schedule... so don't want to spend ages looking for somewhere to eat. Any ideas appreciated - doesn't need to be formal - pub/pizza place would be fine, or if there are any other places you can recommend round there, please let me know. Thanks

There are places up by St Pauls? There's not much right by Blackfriars itself because it's such an officey place.

If you cross blackfriars bridge and turn right, walk down the river a little way you're not too far from Gabriel's wharf. There's a cheap and cheerful pizza pasta place with views of the Thames and a nice pub behind it.

Oops I just checked the map and you're south of the river already, so don't cross the river! You're also very close to The Cut which has several nice places. Tas is nice and reasonably priced.

There's a wagamama and a pizza express at ludgate circus (a couple of minutes walk north of blackfriars)

If you want to impress the American walk a little way up the north side of fleet st, one of the oldest pubs in London and haunt of Dickens

Google "Hare & Tortoise" - its a v nice Asian food restaurant right at Blackfriars

Also look for restaurants in Paternoster Square - that is right next to St Paul's, picturesque and about a 5 min walk.

Fabulous, thank you so much. I've been to that pizza place at Gabriel's wharf, hadn't realised it was so close duh!! But like the idea of going somewhere with a bit of history too. Will take a look at all your suggestions, thank you all so much

The pub is called the Black Friar, I think. It's really nice but you might need to then walk for a bit to get somewhere nice for food. Alternatively what about the south bank, down towards the Tate? You've got the Oxo Tower etc down there.
