Nursery Coach Trip, do I need car seat for a 2 year old and 3 year old

I have booked for me and both kids to go on a coach trip with nursery, short distance about 1/2 hour away. And something just ocurred to me, do I need car seats, the bus has seat belts. Surely people dont use car seats on standard buses, excuse my ignorance but the only public transport I use is trains. Obviously I want everybody to be safe but its going to be a real pain if I have to take pushchairs and car seats, I wont have my car on Fri so will walk to where the coach picks us up, aaargh wish I thought of this earlier.

Probably best to check with the nursery but when ds1 went on a pre-school coach trip the only ones who needed carseats were the babies and very small toddlers. The seat belts were okay for the children of 2yrs+. That was nearly 2 years ago though so things may have changed since then.

I think the risk of a sudden deceleration is lower in a coach (much as in a train, where nobody even bothers with seat belts), as you're in quite a big thing. If a coach hits a car, the coach isn't going to slow down very much at all, iyswim. The coach kinda needs to hit a wall or something to have a real problem.

I would ask the nursery, though.

our pre-school states but doesn't enforce carseats for the under 2's. if i do take seats then have to pay for another place otherwise it is assumed the littlies will sit on laps. we're doing a trip in a few weeks but i've decided to meet them there so i can leave earlier if need be.
