Car with dvd player in back seat - advice please

Dear fellow mums and dads, could you perhaps give me a bit of advice? I am looking to buy a larger car (yey! finally!! wo-hoooo!!!) For a 2 hour one-way journes with a two-year old. So the idea is to splash out on a built-in dvd player. I think i have seen some cars have it in the back of the seat somehow. Does anybody have any good (or bad please!) experience with those? Or maybe you could just tell me which car makers have them? Very much appreciated

Sincerely yours,
Natalie

We bought the in car plug in ones to go in our car. the problem was that it kept jumping so found it very distracting to sort out. ours like your LO were too small to start/stop or pause. overall I think we used it about 6 times and that was it. they soon grow out of this phase and want to play with their DS or tablet games. would you really get a lot of use out of it. we found that our story and singing cd were used until they fell apart. hopefully someone else will come on and give a counter view for balance!

Thank you Mummumeister :-) That's a comforting thought - that maybe i do not need a silly dvd player after all. Because it is not even the question of money (though it is, aga) It is just - where are those cars??

Just buy a dvd player and a bag from argos that lets you hang it over the seat. Ours are fab - but we started out with the cheapest which jumped a lot. Spend a bit more and they work well. Use ours at least 5 times a week with no probs (on motorway a lot and only way to stop him falling asleep)

Portable is best as they can use it all over the place, have you compared the cost? Possibly cheaper to but a small used lap top and just store films on the hard drive

Some of the Chrysler Grand Voyagers have them. We have a one that clips on and it's made my life so much better now that the DCs are a bit older (3 & 2). Lots of friends use books on CD if you want to try that first.

Sorry, you're buying a new car for the sake of a 2 hour one way journey?!
