Off to Aviemore next weekend, tips for a first time skier???

As it says, really. We're off to Aviemore next weekend, going Sat and coming home Tues. We've booked skiing lessons for DD(5), DS(10) and myself as we've never been skiing before. DH is planning on doing some skiing with a friend while we're all sliding down the nursery slopes on our bums. Any tips/ advice? Anyone been to Cairngorm mountain before?
