Any recommendations ?
Near the coast with easy access to beach
Like castles/ruins/rivers/museums
MUST have a steam train ride nearby
B and B, caravan, cottage, cheap/reasonable price
Two adults for a week
Not stuck with any dates in particular
Thank you Smile

Borth y Gest fits the bill. walking distance to the town of Porthmadog with the steam train ride there. can also walk in to Portmeirion. Lots of castles nearby to. love this part of N Wales best as less tat and tourists than in other bits.

There are steam railways at Talyllyn and Bala too. I love this part of Wales. So much to do, beaches at Fairbourne and Barmouth, Cader Idris Mountain. The Cycle path along the Estuary between Dolgellau and Barmouth is brilliant.

Another vote for North Wales! We stayed in Barmouth before which I loved despite the tourist tat as the scenery is spectacular. Going a little bit further up the coast to Harlech in May so will have beach and castle on the doorstep plus little steam engines nearby at Porthmadog. If you go on holiday-rentals.co.uk you'll find quite a few little apartments right in the centre of Barmouth.
