7yr old girl wanting techie toys

hi My dd just turned 7 and has seen ads on telly for techno pressies like My Life and the diary that responds to voice recognition. I checked them out on Amazon reviews and people say they don't really work and are pretty expensive for what they are. A cheap Nintendo basically. Think she is too young for nintendo so wondering if anything similar is worth getting. Failing that what would a 7 yr girl actually play with these days. Not into dolls or barbie. any ideas please!! just had birthday and now xmas approaching
