Normal looking doll for four year old

DD has been asked by her new sibling (due in next couple of months) what she would like for a present when he/she arrives. She keeps telling me she would like 'a dolly with blonde hair'.

Any suggestions for something that isn't barbie/disney princess? Would like something that looks like a little girl her age (she'll be 4 in a few months)

a doll that looks like a 4 year old is bound to be terrifying.

tiny tears is the least alarming of the dolls i found

Very true... in her case it would be permanently smeared with marmite!
I had a tiny tears too

oh you need a Miss Corolle

not cheap but worth it - pick the one you want from the Corolle site and google shopping its name. Amazon often have good prices.

i am loving 'les trendies' on that site

Tiny tears is without hair, sadly. The blonde hair was specified as I think her 'new best friend' at nursery is blonde. Miss Corolle very nice but so not cheap! £54 for a doll! Anything around the £20 mark.
Maybe I should give in to Barbie...

I don't think three are any normal looking dolls that look like a 4 year old really.

Who remembers those huge plastic walking ones??!! The stuff of nightmares or what!

Corolle at £40

Ballet Corolle at £24

oh she is lovely and at £28 I think worth it - def £4 nicer than the Zapf one.

DD has a Les Chéries Corolle ballet doll - she is very pretty. And has a great nightie/dressing gown/slippers outfit as well!

bonsoiranna, do you know why it is aged 5+? I would also like to buy DD a doll from her new baby brother or sister. She will be nearly 4 but was wondering wy a doll would be 5+

dd has a Gotz aquini here we bought it in lots cheaper on holiday in Germany . Is fabulous though, looks like a little girl & goes in the bath. Hair is fabulous too.

We will be getting one for dd2 when she gets a little older.

No I don't, and DD got it when she was 4 (it was a bribe for being good at a really horrible ophthalmologist's visit!).

imaginestrictly - you are brilliant! You linked to KR Bears and Dolls and I checked out Käthe Kruse in what was I thought the vain hope of finding a Sylvia Natterer Minouche doll, which have been out of stock forever (you couldn't find them anywhere) and hey ho, they are back!

I particularly love these dolls for the clothes you can make using Citronille patterns especially designed for them.

I like the ones that go in the bath too, but eventually went for mrsbadgers link to Camille. Much as I knew she would love the ballet one I feel too overdosed on pink and frilly already in our household!
Hope it arrives before DC2 makes an appearance. Would hate to have to say the baby has ordered the present but it's not arrived yet!

glad you liked her - their prices are fantastic

in fact I have earmarked her them when dd is big enough not to put all dolls in the sandpit as a matter of course (thank god for the machine-washable Babicorolles...)

My DD has an adored Lotte Lustig from Sigikids. V. expensive (was a present from GPs) but beautiful doll with a wonderful face and soft body for hugging. With her long hair she looks a lot like DD .

I'll see if I can find a pic.

here goes seems to be less available then before

I found this rather worrying doll on Amazon although I'm not entirely sure that ANYONE would actually want one! www.amazon.co.uk/Mezco-Gangsta-Babies-Doll-Big-Deuce/dp/B001CMXSFE/ref=sr_1_1470?ie=UTF8&s=kids&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 1253724322&sr=1-1470
After i got over the original horror I actually found it quite funny
