Any mp3 player best for 9 year old?

I bought dd a fairly rubbish mp3 player last year, it didn't have a screen and didn't pause when she was listening to audiobooks - she likes listening to music and it was just really hard to find songs on it she wanted to listen to.

Should I consider getting her an iPod, a nano maybe? Or is there something better out there? I want it to be easy to use and I don't mind spending up to £100 because family will give money towards it and it will just be for use at home/in the car.
TIA

No, we won;t get a shuffle... I would get the latest nano, it does look lovely, but is it a little excessive? If she was a little bit older I would, but she is still quite young for her age and although she would love the built in video etc, I am just not sure aaaaargh. I am rubbish at this stuff.

I got DSs iPod nanos for Christmas, DS2 was nearly 9 at the time.

I figured they oils have better lasting value than something cheaper. (and, as i have an iphone, the songs can go on all of our ithingies.)

I think if other family members are ipod users then keep it simple and stick with one for your daughter. My 7 yr old ds has a shuffle and a cheap set of cube speakers from argos that he loves, i think he would have been better off with a nano but i dont think grandma's budget would have stretched that far!
