What to think?

About 25 years ago I had a psychic reading. I was told quite a few things which came true eg someone would come back into my life from overseas. A couple of weeks later I was contacted by an ex-bf who had been living aborad.
I was single at the time I had the reading and they said I would meet my husband soon and described his eyes (correct) and the number of children we would have (correct).
Now the tricky part. They said I would be happily married for 20 years then the marriage would end and the implied my dh would die. I would be on my own for 10 years then happily married again for another 20.
Next year we will have been married for 20 years and I'm terrified my dh will die. I'm a worrier anyway but I am going to be worse soon every time he goes out in the car, making him check for lumps etc.
Should I believe this? Is it what will be will be or is it a load of twaddle??

Why don't you have another reading? See what happens

Twaddle. Most people could have "someone come into their life from overseas".
does he have brown eyes and do you hAve two children?
Whether I'm right or wrong these people are at best srewd entertainers and at worst con artists. You should NOT base important life decisions (such as what to stress over) on what they say.

If youre particularly worried why not have another baby then they got that wrong too ;)

It's shit.

I used to work on 'psychic' lines on the phone for a short time. Honestly it is all made up, you judge the age of people and predict marriage or children and 9 out of 10 times get it right. You give some vague information about personalities/eyes/jobs that can be applied to anyone really and it sounds plausible.

I'm sorry you were conned by this person, but really don't give it another thought.

I'm too scared to have another reading in case they confirm the first.
I'm comforted a bit by Stealth's guess of 2 children and brown eyes but I'm too old to have another baby!!

Thanks Elsa that is reassuring. It was a face to face reading.
They did give me a name as well and my husband has that as his middle name.

Face to face readings just make it easier for the person doing the reading as it's easier to pick up on signals.

If the name wasn't your husbands middle name it would have been his Dads name or his brothers or a friend, there would have more than likely been a link to the name somewhere which would make it all the more convincing to you, this time it happened to be his middle name.

It's a common trick and we were told to do it on the phonelines too.

I could do a 'reading' on anyone and get it 50%-75% right, then all the wrong things I said would be forgotton.

Usually when giving someone a reading, you do not under any circumstances give them the negatives you see. Certainly not surrounding a future death and such.

The way i would take that reading would be the man you knew would no longer exist. Your husband would change into a different person. That could be for better or worse...

Look up Derren Brown pretending to be a medium, it might make you feel better. He was very very convincing and accurate and it was all done through his ability to 'read' the tiny signals we give off and good old educated guesswork. It did convince me that anyone can turn their hand to this kind of thing.

It's balderdash.

What's his middle name? John? Andrew? Michael?

Maybe she meant your marriage would be troubled and it may feel like he isn't really 'with u' but then things become better and u are happy as a couple again?

Honestly, I'd go for the twaddle option. Try saying it out loud to another adult and really listen to yourself speak. That and their reaction will tell you all you need to know.
Anyone who really had that kind of power wouldn't have to tell fortunes for a living, they'd be sitting on a mountain of money and never need to work again.
