The tack room

I have just lost my half livery rider!

She has failed her exams and now her parents have grounded her for the foreseeable future so I need a new rider for my mare. Bum.

It took me ages to get someone that my mare got on with. She's not a novice ride and finding someone who is competent and happy with a slightly ditzy TB who can't be jumped much is not easy.

Rats.

How to get a new rider before she goes mental from lack of exercise? Do you guys advertise or do you just do word-of-mouth to get a new rider?

umm, personally would ask around but am at big, busy yard - know plenty of people, in fact have longish mental list in case ever need (financially ) to put Barney out on loan

advertising at local tack shops might be fruitful, or do you have an agricultural college nearby - might be some NVQ/BHS students who want more riding?

Have found all my shares via ads at local tack shops.
Why not mention it to everyone you know who might know someone? There are plenty of riders about without the time/money to have a horse of their own.
Whereabouts are you?

I'm in Luxembourg and TBs aren't popular here for some reason.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll try the local tack shops and some of the other yards nearby.

I hate going through the process of getting a new livery - you never know what the rider will do to your darling sweet precious horse , do you? I will never forget the heart in the mouth moment watching my other mare cantering round and round the school with a rider trying her out who couldn't stop her.... You just feel so helpless.
