Do any of you who have a horse get this?

I am not rich (sadly) but love riding. It always seems like teenagers mucking out in return for riding though... can a cough 30-something get away with doing the same?

It can be done, yes. I learnt as an adult at a very informal place, was asked to muck out, tack up etc. Some schools charge for stable management. I was the rider who would get on anything, so I'd get a call asking me to come and ride the horse being driven in on the lorry from a dealer. It was great fun. I now own, but I don't charge my sharer, she's a star, does every morning, is a better rider than me and covers any evenings I can't do. There are ways and means, but it's handy to spend time at a school or yard.

People always want sharers. If you can ride competently and unsupervised and do rugs/make up feeds, then you could easily get a share.

DS has a pony but my sister keeps horses so she gave it to him and she looks after him.

She looks brilliant in her riding outfit though. All side saddly and swishy with her little hat. She loves costumes and fancy dresses though. She is a kick ass jumper too (I'm too scared to watch).

Ha ha to liking a woman in riding kit. Anyone turned on by me in hat-hair, jods, knackered boots and slobbered on jumper would have very er.. 'niche' tastes. DH's reaction is more like "talk to me when you've had a shower"

My sister's usual garb is manky Jodhpurs, huge wooly jumper, shitty boots and straw in her hair. She always keeps her nails clean though (always had nice nails).

Her husband once went to Tescos in full yokel with his string belt.

Left work for the stables the other day in my riding get up. Told boss I was riding that evening. He was in his own Pervy way a bit sad that I was in dirty jods, scuffed boots, chaps and one of Dhs old rugby shirts. Not in a jolly cooper style outfit.

I forgot chicken poo. Last time I saw her she was also covered in blood and snot as she had had to wrestle a pony down to get a tube down his throat (long story).
