Horsey New Years Goals

Happy New Year Tack roomers......
I was thinking it might be fun/interesting to look at what we want to achieve this year.
Here's mine - Finally commit to buying a horse. Be riding on average 4 times a week...well actually maybe average 3, but aspire to having 4 rides a week as often as possible (DH will ride twice at weekends). One of these rides will be a lesson.
And the biggest goal of all - start competing at Dressage - I am going to do my first competitions on the school master I am riding at the moment.

Would love to see my son (9) jumping regularly and my daughter (5) to move off the lead rein - though if this doesn't happen not too stressed. By summer would love to loan or buy a pony for ds.

How about you guys?

I don't have any specific goals as such, but I would like to get through the summer without dhorse succumbing to something or other which rules him out of action - again! He's currently on the easy list with a sore back so first aim is to get that sorted (had kissing spine surgery 18 months ago and I'm very nervous of his back problems).

My horsey goals for this year is to get BonkeyTB up and together and schooling reasonably well.
As it stands its been on and off since Oct when I started riding due to illness/lameness/shoe pulling/weather/blah blah blah.
I really need to put a bit more effort in with the riding area (limited due to no school but winter is for building fitness by hacking right? Wink ) - the ultimate goal would be to do a dressage test on him (however basic) but we are a loooooong way off that yet!

I can't think of anything more satisfying for me than to take my completely unschooled ex racehorse to a test and get through it in one piece Grin .

Oh and to get him to jump over jumps rather than crash through them would be nce as well!
Currently only ever been attempted on the lunge but he just swooshes through it Hmm .

DS1's first canter (age 7).
DS2 to continue his enthusiasm after his first (proper) ride (age 5)
Me - any nag time I can get!

Mine is to get brave enough to jump over 3 ft courses, hopefully without making a complete tit of myself, and get dhorse to do a whole dressage test in an outline, and going forward. I have a feeling I would have said the same thing last year though, and we're not there yet.

I am very excited - just found about Veterans dressage, the schoolmaster I am riding (he's over 20) was a grand prix jumping horse and we laugh that he has now got a new career - but actually quite excited about the prospect of doing veteran competitions with him!!!

I would love to get my pony competing more, he showed very successfully last year. I took him to 4 outings and he got supreme champion twice and champion the other two, as well as handfuls of firsts!

Unfortunately we have struggled with my riding letting him down and also not being able to afford transport- I am hoping to save enough money to get to at least a handful of shows if possible!
