Oh no, poor thing. Fingers crossed she gets well soon. And poor you, just when it was all going so well.
Thanks all and for the advice re neckstarp- she got scared by a tractor with a bucket attatched which swung inher vision and galloped on the road y day - the owner was on her .she has now hurt both her legs cut and v swollen and shakey and hasnt had a wee for a day.Vet called given sedative and painkillers - wishing she has speedy recovery.
Hi Books, good to hear how well it's turned out (It's Treblesallround, back from a break and with a new name). One tip, if you're anything like me, is to put a neckstrap on then if you do have a scary moment you've got something really reliable to hang onto. I always have mine on, it's my comfort blanket!
I'm glad it's worked out for you, it is a massive commitment of time and money and what you have now sounds perfect for all concerned. May you have many happy rides together, and one day perhaps the time will be right to own again.
I was wondering what had happened to you books, glad to see it has all worked out in the end!
Yes but not daily asthey are aprox ten miles apart- we have a trailer.Tbh- its good to concentrate on dd after school in week in riding school .I have thur and fri off so i ride then alone or with women from the other yard.Dd is riding with a pal this wekend but we plan to go out on hacks together- it will be a bit of arranging as opposite directions but thats fine..
So glad to hear its worked out for you , good luck with your new pony . Is it close enough to ride with your DD ?
Hi all- after all my panic and frantic posting about biting off more than i could chew -combined with guilt of affecting my family, i made the decision to sell my cob back to owner which took me days and days to decide and tears .............and during the waiting to take her back period i saw an ad for a part loaner required 3 days a week 15 min away- i went to see her and she was a lovely ex riding school pony who had been left in a stable for a year and was depressed it seemed to me.Anyhow i loved her from ist sight .ahhh.
.She and I have been hacking out alone and with others for a few weeks. She has got fitter and her personality is comming thro more it seems
.I think that when i bought my own pony i had expected a feeling like i had as teen that of total freedom- but got a huge huge shock to be an owner as an adult when i felt i was affecting others by my decison to own a pony - guilt all the way- and i was also stressed as we went from none to two as dd had just got one in the early summer.Felt so overwhelmed.
Now i really love sniffing her ,listening to her eat ,muking out and riding- all those things folk said.plus for me its most of the joy and not the worry.I only have to pay for shoes even tho i offered but owner says it really helps her to muck out x 3 a week and exercise plus i feed her other two which means she can have a rest three ams a week(However we did have a too fast canter alone onthe beach last week - i made mistake of canter- on- way -home - !!!never again - well not alone!! wrapped my fingers inher mane and had to let her get on with it as all half halts dismissed)!
!Who knows in future i may own but for now its just great. my confidence has risen and i feel just calm and can enjoy her company.I have rememembered why i love horses.
Thankyou all for all your support and bearing with my temp insanity brought on by sheer worry,I hope it warms your cockles to hear this as it would if i heard this and i thankyou for bearing with me -x in celebration of our love of horses !!!
will post tonight - got to go to ride - ha ha .Well its true...!! tell all later - and thankyou all xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Do tell....!
Ooh.....
Still here !!! xxxtrot on!!.will post another day- there have been developments !!
FFS! It pisses me right off when people come to MN for advice and get scared away!
Somebody was very nasty about her on one of the threads she started and I've not seen anything from her since !
It's been dead quiet here without her! There's hardly been a new thread in ages!
