Taking a 5 month old baby to Olympia

So my baby is due beginning of August and due to Badminton being cancelled I thought it would be nice to go to Olympia instead.

Thing is baby will be 5 months old (or there abouts) and I was wondering how it works!

I know this looks daft but I genuinely have no idea. Where do you leave your pram for example and would i just sit baby on my lap for the puissance say?

Only started taking DD when she was nearly 5 but think I've seen some prams parked at the foot of the stairs - best to check with the organisers if there are special places for them.

It is like going to the theatre in that you sit for a performance - show jumping, dog agility, shetland pony grand national, Jean Francois Pignon and then you have an interval (for a mad shopping spree) followed by more show jumping and the Christmas Finale.

It will be a sell out so you'd need to have DB on your lap throughout. It is quite raucous because, whilst it is deathly silent during the actual jumping rounds, they have loud music and lots of clapping, singing, shouting etc in between.

A fantastic event for families with children but wouldn't want to take a baby to it.

I took DS when he was 3 months. Husband had to come too. He is not interested in horsey stuff, but was there to hold DS when I got a bit overexcited at the World Cup qualifier jump off. At that age he just wanted milk and sleep. DD has gone for the last 3 years and loved it each time. She was 2 the first year she went. I find if they get bored it helps to have a big bag of sweets on hand! It is such a fab show that if something is boring for them it isn't long till something else comes on.

We also took very young kids to Badminton one year for the SJing. My DD sat still and was enthralled. Best friend's DD is the baby screaming all the way through Paul Tapner's winning round on the BBC coverage! Hey - it's a claim to fame, and all that!

I personally would not take a baby but to be honest I have seen a few there in the past. It can be very loud and noisey and boring for non horsey people. My little girl is 3 now and I am dying to take her but think that 5 is about the right age as Butkin has said.
