I'd just like to say a big thanks to everybody on here who replied when I posted about a mare I rescued in January, your help and support was really valuable.
Sadly she fell down and had some kind of fit shortly after being turned out in the field the other day and we made the choice to have her PTS as we thought it was the kindest thing to do.
I feel a bit lost without her at the moment but at least she isnt in any more pain.

Thanks again everybody.

Oh how sad. It is always horrible to lose a horse. Try and comfort yourself with knowing that you made her last days as comfortable as possible. Sending best wishes your way.

Such a shame,Sad but you did everything you could for her and then made the right decision when it counted. I hope knowing that makes it easier for you.

I am really sorry for your loss. At least the poor mare had a loving person looking after her at the end of her life and making sure she was comfortable and happy at the end.

Sad sometimes, all you can do is give them a comfortable end. {{hug}}

Such sad news, i'm so sorry for you. I echo what all the other posts have said - you did everything you could for her and i'm sure she was very gratful for having found you. Sad

That's very sad, but as others have said, at least she had the last few months knowing she was loved and cared for. It's horrible when they go, but you know you've done your best by her.

Thank you everybody for the kind words. I'm just starting to get over her not being there, she required a lot of extra care so I was feeling a bit lost without me or my OH having to do X at X time for her and so on. It hasnt been too hard as I really do believe it was the only option for her at that point, so I havnt felt like "maybe if I tried had this or that things would be different".
I have a picture here of her on day 1 and day 78. I think she was a lot happier than when I first got her.
