Strangles is in a relatively close area to our stables. So far we OK. Just been doing some research and its so horrid. Have not been riding out, just going in school and no other horses coming into yard. Nightmare.

Horrid. A yard near us had it a couple of years ago and with nearly 100 horses they ended up being closed for the entire summer. I don't think they actually lost any though.

Simply dreadful. Do you know if DEFRA (or anybody else) put up addresses for places with strangles? I hate all the chinese whispers you get with these sort of cases - they should be fully transparent.

Where abouts is the yard Mermaid?

I'm not gonna be too specific but its in East Sussex. Its only two horses at the moment, different stables and that only happened as someone rode to the other to meet a friend and ride out together!

Butkin, I agree with you, should be much clearer and people should know about it. Not sure why its down to people passing it on and as you say chinese whispers.

General area is fine, thanks Mermaid. There was a strangles outbreak in Gloucestershire last year and I was worried it had reappeared. It's awful.
