I'm also a TA , a 1:1 though.
I've been with my child all last year ( reception) and now we are together in a year one class. The class TA has been there for 10 years +. Unfortunately, she has now seen fit to start helping me with my work.
I'm trained in the particular additional need of my 1:1 . Very trained. .
It hasn't stopped her butting in with my work, overriding my decisions- and generally not listening when l explain how work needs to be conveyed to this pupil. The class teacher is more than respectful, she is grateful for my input - as she knows it helps her teach the whole class. Recently the other TA has started a silly baby language that she uses with my 1:1 . My child is autistic &I does not need to be spoken down to, no matter how cute they are. Anyway, she keeps informing me that: " ** really likes it when l speak like that - she associates it with me!"
It isn't helping. She is also letting the child get away with things she reprimands others for.
I can't tell the the class teacher as they are best mates. I'm loathed to go to the head so early in the year. I'd just like her to stop. Another example: l take my 1:1 individualy for her spelling test- l know how. anyway - she calls out after me: "Don't forgot to mix them up!"
Silly, and they look petty written down, however l take my job really seriously. Together with my 1:1 , we worked really hard to make school a safe place with understandable language & minimal anxiety.
Thanks for reading - sorry to be so vague and robotic. I'm trying to keep it unidentifiable.
