Hi everyone,

I applied to and agency back in July for some supply TA work and they called me on Monday asking if I wanted my name put forward for a long term level 3 TA job so I said yes....I got shorsited by the school and now have interview next week and I have to prepare a 15 minute active for 6 year 2 pupils. Please can you give me some ideas for an activity? I was thinking of doing a number bond game or would that not be suitable?

Thanks in adance Smile

Any idea of ability level?

Otherwise it could look like lack of challenge. Look at Y2 maths objectives.

15 mins is a long time for number bonds. Make sure you cross reference it with current year 2 curriculum so if they ask you about it in interview you can say it's from whatever curriculum expectations they are using. Their website should tell you what curriculum they are following.

Could you do a few shorter mental oral activities? Unless it specifies a format.

At our school it's all about pace and revisiting things little and often. Then you could do num bonds, counting, shapes, etc

Maybe some place value exchanging subtraction or addition game. You'd need some resources to represent tens and units and they could take turns rolling dice to subtract or add and the first one to zero or 50 wins.

You could use straws for the tens.

If you can lay your hands on some numicon there's loads of really good fun activities to do with them.
E.g I have 5 numicon in, they add up to 25, pull one out, what could the others be, etc..
Good luck!
