I wondered if anyone would be willing to share their schedule of monitoring and evaluation activities. We want to review ours and have lost our way for a number of reasons.
Thanks

I think that might be one of those how long is a piece of string questions. How big is your school? How many people do you have to monitor/be involved in the monitoring process? Where are you in the Ofsted cycle? What's your Ofsted grading and how secure in it are you? How good do you feel the pratice at your school currently is?

At my last (very small, in serious danger of going RI or worse) school, I was doing all the book scrutinies and sharing the learning walks/lesson obs with the Head (as she wasn't tied to a class like I was). The aim was roughly one learning walk a week with a fortnightly book scrutiny and feedback.

My current school (good and outstanding with strong leadership) is very different. The Head picked up that one teacher was really struggling so last term she did daily learning walks, dropping in on everyone every day because she couldn't only drop in on the struggling teacher. She then used that evidence to work with the person who was struggling to support them to improve. Book scrutinies are done at staff meetings a couple of times a term, at SLT meetings and also by subject leaders who get an afternoon per term to monitor their subject.

Don't know if that helps...

I do observations with my DHT for teacher once a half term as part of their professional development, areas picked up are the focus for the next one etc. We do learning walks every couple of weeks, sometimes whole school, sometimes key stages. We do one English and one maths book scrutiny a half term, these are done by the subject leads. Topic type books once a term.
My subject leads do their own learning walks for specific areas and we have a lot of peer observations happening, partly as we have several NQTs.
Our timetable and the way we feedback etc. was decided as a whole staff. We have good progress but low attainment so Ofsted is always a bit of a worry, especially this year! I'm very clear that we do the monitoring because we want to develop and improve and do the best for the children...not to tick boxes!

In my school we do book scrutinies once per term (by SLT), learning walks once a term (once a year by subject leaders- over course of the same week, twice a year by SLT), observations three times a year, twice by an individual member of SLT, one is combined in with learning walk.
We are an outstanding school.
