I work for a council. They are running a scheme whereby you can do the pgde distance learning whilst still in your old post being paid. You are released for the teaching practice and after 18 months you are a primary teacher guaranteed a first year placement. You then must stay with the council teaching for 3 years. I meet the requirements in that I have a degree and live in the area. I really really want to do this. The only thing I have to do now is a personal statement and hope I get an interview. Can I ask how long I should make it. What kind of things should I put in it? I know competition will be strong and I am lacking in recent experience working with children. I have signed up to help the brownies so that's a start. The turn around is very quick so I really have to write this as soon as possible. So Scottish primary teachers I call on you for assistance. Great starting points. I would love to get into a school and I am sure they would have me but I work full time. This makes it tricky. I guess I just have to draw on my transferable skills and take it from there. I will do my research. Thanks
