New job- PROS: salary the same as I have now, the classes are small, senior age of pupils ( intellectual work), possibility to get my kids there for staff bursary, I would shape the curriculum ( decision making). CONS: on top of my teaching I would have to do 5 hours boarding duty per fortnight, plus 1 morning Saturday once a month activities, plus 3 Sundays a year - days out with students. Also, this job would take me 20 min more to drive each way...
Am I mad to go for it?

Go for it. I do a boarding duty every week and it's fine. The kids are fun.
The weekend trips will be to places like shopping centres. I just have a coffee and do some marking while they have fun.

I also teach lessons every Saturday morning and coach sport every Saturday afternoon. It sounds like you'll have a lot more weekends free, which is good because working six days a week is a killer.
