What to wear?

Any good ideas for items/shops for a staple work wardrobe??
I've just got a job as a TA after being SAHM for a few years and need to go shopping! I usually wear dresses or skinny jeans and fitted tops with chunky boots. I will still be able to wear most of the dresses, but not the jeans or boots so need smarter but still comfy footwear and other clothes options!!
What do you all wear??

I'm a TA. I wear black bootcut trousers with ankle boots in winter. Usually a T shirt or shirt with a black cardigan. Love black as you can tell.

Black trousers and a range of tunic tops, jumpers and shirts.
All easy to wash (primary teacher)

I wear black trousers and a smartish top. Sometimes I live on the edge and wear navy trousers. Most of my colleagues tend to wear the same 'uniform'. Asda has work trousers for £6 and they are fine for work. Have a look on the sale racks in Asda and Tesco - I have got myself quite a few tops for £7 or £8 each. Dresses may not be the most practical item if you need to bend down or get off the floor. Are you KS1 or KS2? If you are in KS1 then there will be a lot more glue and paint going on but I find there is still some in KS2 so everything you buy needs to be washable with minimum effort. Don't buy anything that needs hand-washing.

I wear flat ballet pumps which again, most of my colleagues also wear. You are on your feet much of the time so you need something comfortable.

I would take a cardigan too - some rooms in schools are like saunas and others are freezing so layers are good. I agree with the others, black is a good choice here.
