I have just formally accepted a job, teaching maths, in a school I last taught at 12 years ago! Since then I have had my children, done a few part-time and supply jobs and lived overseas for 4 years. The DC will both be at secondary school, although as my DH is still working overseas, I will potentially have logistical issues with the DC ECAs.

Tell me it'll be ok!!

It will be fine. Because it has to be. Maybe, after a year, you will decide that full time work has too great an impact on your family and so you can negotiate to drop some hours. Or maybe it really will be fine. If you don't try, you won't know.

I do many things in life inspired by someone from a hospice I heard speaking on the radio years ago. She said that dying people never regret the things they did, just the things they didn't do. So give it a go and give it your best shot! You can always resign if it doesn't work out... If the school liked you enough to give you the job, they are likely to be open to negotiation if necessary. Maths teachers are in such short supply - well, round here anyway.

Thanks for your support. Luckily the job is slightly part-time, 4 days. You are completely correct in that if I don't try, I won't know.
