This has been on tonight's news! I was contemplating voting for Labour at the next election as years of voting Lib Dem has not been a success and I can't see them having any real clout.

Who will the leftie teachers vote for now??!

There does need to be a way to get rid of bad teachers, but I do wish the government(s) would stop interfering with the good ones.

There is a way of getting rid of bad teachers, it can be done in one term now and from what I've seen can be brutally unfair.
Most teaching issues stem from poor management and poor leadership of teaching and learning yet in schools it's the slt who decide who is 'bad' and who is 'good'
Anyway back to the thread- Hunt is surely the most disappointing shadow education secretary of all time and he's only been in the post five minutes. Accepting free schools, performance related pay, and now this bonkers idea that teachers don't already get cpd and aren't already subjected to enough scrutiny! Mad!

We are observed three times a year. If we do not get a good or outstanding each time, the SMT come back fortnightly until we do. If we don't, we are put in capability proceedings and got rid if. This can happen within a term. On top of that, there is Ofsted every three years and our performance management three times a year-that deals with pupil progress and our CPD.

If these things are not enough to keep teachers on the straight and narrow-them it's them that needs to change! Someone needs to decide why Ofsted, Performance reviews and regular observations aren't working? Is it being implemented badly?!
