I work as a TA in a primary school and I have just been given a share of the task of making 11 pairs of trousers from scratch, and a slightly higher quantity of Angel costumes.

The dress rehearsal is next Monday so they need to be finished by then. I work part time at the school. I have agreed to take on the sewing so as not to leave other colleagues in the lurch. There are only a couple of us with access to sewing machines.

However, I am more peeved that the HT has left us with a week to make all these costumes.

AIBU to think that as Christmas comes but once a year, the HT could get herself organised to let us have 'projects' like this a couple of weeks earlier. I did make my views on this clear to her this morning, which she took as I didn't want to help. I do. But with so much going on with my work school, my kids school, and Christmas organisation in general, it would be kinder to have a bit longer to do a job that we are all trying to achieve in a very short timescale, at the end of a long, exhausting term, with a bunch of over excitable children to deal with both at work and at home (some of us).

Rant over....

No responses necessary, just makes me feel better writing it down and venting.

Each class is learning a different part for the harmonies of one song. Now we've been instructed to arrange the children in a particular order that will mix up the classes. I struggle to hold a tune if the people either side of me are singing something else... how on earth are children supposed to do it?

Can't you just buy the trousers and claim the money back?!!

No, we do not have any more tickets left for the evening performance. Not even for Granny. The church sets the seating limit. It is not negotiable.

No, you may not take photos using a flash because it terrifies distracts the performers. Yes, we have always had that rule. No, we are not being unfair.

Please take your noisy 3 year old OUT when they start to cry.

No, I'm sorry, but your darling DC (who, unlike the parent is a lovely, friendly, kind child who doesn't care for being on the stage and specifically asked me to play the drum and help with the scenery- and is very good at both) can't be Mary.

Especially as the nativity is in a week.

... and when I say "Stand still when you're on stage." that includes not swinging your arms, nodding your head from side to side, stamping one foot, pulling silly faces...

Please note that the church where the service takes place is not a theatre with raked seats and unfortunately we can't do anything about the large pillars which may obscure your view of little Sammy sitting at the front of the church playing his glockenspeil.
