Working in an academy - your experiences?

I currently work in a small secondary school. Its an RC & CE school, lovely really. I'm a TA.

Tomorrow I have an interview for a mentoring job within an alternative provision academy. It is a promotion, but its also REALLY good money, double what I'm currently earning.

But I've heard such awful things about working for an academy. Anyone out there got any experiences they'd like to share?

Thank you.

Seems like all those who work for an academy have no time to answer!?!

I think it's hard question to answer as working in an academy is so variable.

It might be brilliant, it might be awful.

Go into the interview with your eyes wide open! Good luck!

I am a Business Manager at a primary academy; my job has changed beyond recognition. The teacher and TA jobs have not changed at all other than we have created some 'super TA' posts and they get paid an extra £2000 per year.

All TA's were allowed to apply and the best ones were appointed.
