coming soon, new kittens on the Critter Cam!

(81 Posts)

John should be getting them on Sunday or Monday, The mother and four kittens.

The mother is gorgeous, she has unusual markings/colouring.

cozietoesie Thu 25-Jul-13 08:07:46

Excited Any names yet?

Not that I can find out, but the kittens are 2 boys and 2 girls - although that may change after the Adam/Addie and Jamie debacle with the Mythbusters.

They are called (at the moment), Mum - Hazel, the girls are Penelope and Honey, the boys are Sylvester and Marvin, collectively known as the Looney Fosters - for now!

Well it looks like its 3 boys and one girl now....here

cozietoesie Fri 02-Aug-13 08:05:25

Everyone twitching and dreaming.

It makes you realize the problems that people have when someone as experienced as FDJ can have difficulties with sexing a kitten.

They are gorgeous.

Mum was not much more than a kitten herself when she had this litter, they reckon she is about 9-10 months.

cozietoesie Sat 03-Aug-13 16:32:22

I keep thinking there's an extra kitten in there snuggling - but it's just Mum's ginger arm.

smile

Ohhh they are soooo cute! Mum is also gorgeous!

I'm not broody for another kitten, no sir

Somethingtothinkabout Sun 04-Aug-13 23:03:07

Oh my Goodness what is this?! That is so adorable! Is the Mum a really large cat or is it just the angle/distance of the camera?

Their wee legs stretching are so cute!

cozietoesie Mon 05-Aug-13 08:51:13

The kittens are only 2 weeks old so I think that gives you some idea - Mom is only a youngster herself so isn't that big.

issey6cats Mon 05-Aug-13 18:02:12

aww another cute bunch love moms random front ginger leg

cozietoesie Mon 05-Aug-13 19:33:52

She's a pretty girl - also one that's relaxed completely with FDJ. Twitching and dreaming like a steam train at the moment.

The kids have to get a daily fix of Crittercam, they are pestering for kittens constantly at the moment.

They are gorgeous!

cozietoesie Tue 06-Aug-13 08:03:50

I see that one little wanderer (taz is it?) collapsed into sleep om his travels and didn't make it back to the kitten lump.

cozietoesie Tue 06-Aug-13 08:07:01

Aw - Mum saw him and re-positioned so he's now got pole position at the milk bar. Love that sucking sound.

smile

Somethingtothinkabout Wed 07-Aug-13 20:31:19

I need to find myself a job where I can have a tv in my office and can stream this in live every day!

I love how they're almost learning to use their little shaky front legs, but their back legs just drag along behind them.

cozietoesie Thu 08-Aug-13 20:57:26

What fat little kittens!

Somethingtothinkabout Sat 10-Aug-13 09:42:50

One looks like it's starting to bath itself now. Love it when they get stuck on their back and wave their paws around.

cozietoesie Sat 10-Aug-13 09:47:10

Obviously gave up. I love that about kittens. In the middle of an activity, they just fall straight asleep.

cozietoesie Mon 12-Aug-13 09:36:40

You don't visit for a couple of days and the kittens pretty well seem to double in size. What fat tumfies.

smile

cozietoesie Tue 13-Aug-13 00:09:19

Just to remind everyone that the shelter challenge is back and Purrfect Pals would welcome your vote. You can vote once a day.

cozietoesie Thu 15-Aug-13 09:07:07

Remember to vote, folks. (Despite the really horrible captchas this time round.)

smile

Somethingtothinkabout Thu 15-Aug-13 10:33:57

I woke up in the middle of the night last night (had a dream a big geko lizard climbed into my mum's mouth and down her throat and I had to pull it out by its tail confused the fright woke me), ANYWAY! I went onto the kitten cam and managed to see them awake and three of them playing with each other and the big yellow fish for the first time!

Adorable.

cozietoesie Thu 15-Aug-13 10:38:42

They're wonderful - and so chubby now. (Although Mom being such a small cat gives a slightly skewed perspective on them.)

Amazing how ChickenFish appeals to generation after generation of kits. Probably worth buying one if you can source it.

ToffeeWhirl Thu 15-Aug-13 10:54:31

Aww. They are luverly. grin

cozietoesie Thu 15-Aug-13 12:40:40

It's nice looking at them and knowing that every one of them (plus Mum) will already have umpty people queuing up to give them a great home.

smile

cozietoesie Fri 16-Aug-13 20:34:54

Penelope keeps attempting a 'half fiddle' to wash her bum and falling flat on her back. I shouldn't laugh because she is trying.

cozietoesie Tue 20-Aug-13 08:40:53

Oh Dear. Wee Honey died.

sad

Somethingtothinkabout Tue 20-Aug-13 09:26:03

What? Which one was that? sad

How awful.

Somethingtothinkabout Tue 20-Aug-13 09:28:55

Oh I've read it now. That's just so sad. sad She's a cutie as well.

cozietoesie Tue 20-Aug-13 09:32:00

She was a little singleton that had been found by herself and was being hand reared apart from Hazel's litter. She had a play date with Hazel's lot and was going to be reintroduced when they went into the big room - for socialization and fun.

There's a photo and her story on the link - beneath the feed for the Looney Tunes.

cozietoesie Tue 20-Aug-13 09:32:18

X post.

cozietoesie Thu 22-Aug-13 15:56:51

Those voting captchas are horrible and I'm usually pretty good at them. They must have had some voting issues last year.

cozietoesie Fri 23-Aug-13 03:30:48

The kittens have been let loose in the big room. They're so bold!

I love how Sylvester was first out, followed closely by Penny.

Hazel has had a bad case of the zoomies this afternoon!

cozietoesie Fri 23-Aug-13 20:26:19

Sylvester rocketed out. I grinned a lot watching them.

cozietoesie Sun 25-Aug-13 07:31:21

Remember to vote every day in the Shelter Challenge, folks. Winning a prize would really help Purrfect Pals.

cozietoesie Mon 26-Aug-13 16:12:32

Those kittens are so lively that Mom's taking to the heights (or escaping) in response. I don't blame her.

deeliasmythe Thu 29-Aug-13 06:29:11

I was given an early birthday pressie by my dh yesterday - and it was a chicken fish!

I've been a bit obsessed about it since seeing it on the critter room.

cozietoesie Thu 29-Aug-13 10:29:28

You lucky person, deelia. CF appears to be the toy of choice for all the litters.

Somethingtothinkabout Fri 30-Aug-13 23:09:18

Deelia, would your DH be a star and tell all of mumsnet me where he found it?!

ThatVikRinA22 Fri 30-Aug-13 23:12:48

marking my place!

cozietoesie Fri 30-Aug-13 23:43:29

Blimey, Something. Did you win the Lottery?

smile

deeliasmythe Sat 31-Aug-13 00:09:21

It's a replica chickenfish because dh said he found the company that made them, phoned their hq in Germany and was told that they no longer make it.

A crafty lady put a free template on the Internet of how to make one, he emailed her and she made one for him! She has an etsy shop that is mostly full of knitted meerkats.

When I got it in the post the lady had written 'hail chicken fish!' on a card.

The cage has gone!

No rug though as Hazel is still having tummy trouble. a Sample is being tested to see what's wrong.

Somethingtothinkabout Sat 31-Aug-13 10:05:19

Deelia that might be one of the nicest add most thoughtful birthday presents ever! How lovely.

And the little move from the lady, it's like Chickenfish is almost a cult or something!

I still can't get the proportions of those kittens and the Mum, I see them as being massive but I know they're not. I think it's because the camera is so low.

Rehoming centres here should maybe think about putting cameras in the little enclosures, it might increase the number of people looking to adopt smile

Somethingtothinkabout Sat 31-Aug-13 10:06:08

gah
and, not add.
note, not move hmm

cozietoesie Sat 31-Aug-13 11:07:36

Mom is actually a pretty small cat, Something, (she was very young when she gave birth) so that skews the proportions.

Remember to vote, everyone!

smile

cozietoesie Fri 06-Sep-13 10:08:59

The Big Room looks like a disaster area. There's kittens for you.

Remember to vote every day, guys.

smile

cozietoesie Mon 09-Sep-13 23:08:52

Four full, completely puggled kittens and one Mom who looks like she's getting just a tad ......fed up with motherhood.

Just off to vote.

cozietoesie Fri 13-Sep-13 10:10:52

I'm exhausted after just watching them for a minute on the video feed! How their poor Mum copes, I have no idea.

cozietoesie Sun 15-Sep-13 23:22:49

Just put in my daily vote in the shelter challenge. Purrfect Pals are still just about in the lead so in line for a decent prize. (There are lots of prizes so most of the people listed are likely to get something.)

27cats Mon 16-Sep-13 13:53:57

I've been watching Firefly pretty much from the start, thanks to MN, the first time I've ever watched a livestream like this. My family think I'm a bit mad! I can't believe how bereft I feel now that they are going to be moving on! I know they'll find lovely homes etc, but what about us?!
Does the process continue with other litters?

cozietoesie Mon 16-Sep-13 14:03:46

Oh yes. As soon as Mom and the kittens are homed (and they'll have a queue waiting for them of course) Foster Dad John will be planning for the next lot. (After a break to get some sleep, I guess.)

smile

27cats Mon 16-Sep-13 19:42:16

O good! smile
Makes my day!

cozietoesie Mon 16-Sep-13 19:45:24

You voted today, 27 ?

wink

I've been watching Hazel and her four, and Firefly with her seven (!) these last few weeks, will miss them when they go. Absolutely loved this photo of Zoe and Captain Mal from Firefly's litter with Zoe doing a MN headtilt: https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/q71/s720x720/1186305_518771294864406_933255875_n.jpg

27cats Mon 16-Sep-13 21:46:31

cozie I'm not sure how to vote blush, not the most savvy when it comes to forums etc. Don't like the idea of people 'fixing' voting though.
Gerund That photo is gorgeous isn't it?! She takes a good snap does Shelley! I have a black cat and find it really hard to get good photos of him.
Are Hazel and Firefly both in Canada? (Sorry if that's a really rookie question!)

cozietoesie Mon 16-Sep-13 21:56:49

Here's the link 27 - and don't worry, it's not 'fixing'. The rules are that you can vote for your shelter of choice once a day and there are lots of prizes.

Just go to where it says shelter, hit search, put in Purrfect Pals (if that's who you would like to vote for) and when they come up with the WA address, vote, completing the Captcha. (They're 'orrible Captchas - they put some of the letters upside down and sideways - but you get used to them.)

smile

27cats Mon 16-Sep-13 22:09:34

Thanks for link cozie, have voted now! smile

cozietoesie Mon 16-Sep-13 22:13:11

Well done - you'll see that people on Critter Cam remind each other. We all keep forgetting !

smile

Hazel is with Foster Dad John (fostering for Purrfect Pals) in Washington, somewhere near Seattle, Firefly is with Shelley (fostering for Langley Animal Protection Society) in Canada (British Columbia).

cozietoesie Mon 16-Sep-13 22:49:08

Next pair of new litters, we'll have to post the links to both on this board.

smile

27cats Tue 17-Sep-13 07:43:59

Thanks to cozie and gerund!
I'm happy there will be more kitties to watch grow up!
<creeps off to google British Columbia! Couldn't tell you where it is to save my life! blush >

cozietoesie Fri 27-Sep-13 12:59:23

The kits go for re-homing tomorrow.

Remember to keep on voting though.

smile

moonbells Sat 28-Sep-13 07:14:53

:-( I shall miss them. Love Penelope's colouring. Ah well sniff hope they have really fun forever homes!

cozietoesie Sat 28-Sep-13 07:23:06

There will be new ones along shortly, I'm sure.

smile

YouTheCat Sat 28-Sep-13 18:48:29

Soooo happy they have all been adopted! grin

cozietoesie Sat 28-Sep-13 18:59:21

Yep! Hazel went first and then two pairs to two separate homes. Good, eh?

cozietoesie Sat 28-Sep-13 19:00:12

Hazel apparently already has her own FB page.

YouTheCat Sat 28-Sep-13 19:14:39

I shall keep my eyes peeled. I reckon Marv and Penelope might have a page as they've been adopted by friend's of Tory and Grant's people.

sashh Sun 29-Sep-13 06:34:15

There will be new ones along shortly, I'm sure.

But there will never be another Taz

cozietoesie Sun 29-Sep-13 08:05:18

You sound positively kitten-broody, sashh.

smile

cozietoesie Sun 29-Sep-13 08:10:20

Just saw that FDJ put Honey's portrait with the Looney Tune Fosters' cage at the adoption event. That was very sweet of him.

YouTheCat Sun 29-Sep-13 10:23:13

There's facebook pages for Hazel and Taz and Tybalt (Sylvester had a name change). They look like they're settling in very well. grin

cozietoesie Sun 29-Sep-13 21:18:12

Here's the link to the Critter Room Facebook page.

And remember to keep voting every day.

sashh Mon 30-Sep-13 06:23:25

I'm Taz broody, he was special, he took about two days longer than the others to learn anything.

And I witnessed his first escape.

I found the facebook page for the myth busters - they look to be doing so well.

cozietoesie Mon 30-Sep-13 06:46:05

I see that FDJ said yesterday

'...While you wait for new kittens to arrive ( may be sooner than you think ), check out ......'

(My bolding)

so he may not be having as much of a break as we maybe thought?

YouTheCat Mon 30-Sep-13 14:33:35

There's a page for Penelope and Marvin now too.

New kittens are going to be named after Portal characters apparently.

YouTheCat Tue 01-Oct-13 15:00:06

New kittens already!

Glados has one of her own (Hal - tabby, bigger than the others) and 3 fosters (Holly, Marvin and Eddie).
