She doesn't go outside she's five months. How does she know it's the way out? It's been blocked off for years. It is locked but this week the cleaner came and the cat saw an opportunity.

It sounds as if she's smelling outside - do you have any lusty toms around out there? (Well any old tom, really. Grin)

Has she been booked in for neutering if she hasn't been already? (You can neuter at 4 months, health and weight being fine.)

She'all be able to hear and smell the outside. I think it's curiosity that makes them go up the chimney rather than a serious desire to escape. Cats like to know every nook and cranny of their territory, mine is obsessed with trying to get into my wardrobes. I've blocked the bottom of my chimney off with chicken wire but sometimes pigeons coo down the chimney and she goes wild trying to get up there. All you can really do is try to block her from getting up there and/or keep her out of the room entirely. They are odd creatures!

Keep everything shut tight until then and warn the cleaner to watch out for her. It sounds as if she has partying on her mind. Wink

Oh god, I'm new to this. He has kissed her on the lips. The neighbour said we should start introducing them in the hall as she'll be using his catflap does that sound ok? He's very okd

Just because you have a neutered tom living next door doesn't mean someone else isn't out there, strutting his stuff. Grin

When I had cats as a child we always had a fire guard around the fireplace to stop the cat getting up the chimney and me playing with the coal
