My 7 year old is weeing blood Sad. He's just left a patch on the floor, then sat in the sink and weed and it was bloody again Shock.

My husband's took him straight to the emergency vets, but does anyone have any experience of this?

Cystitis. He cried when weeing and sprayed everywhere. Does he eat dry food and is he neutered? This can set it off. Hope it's something simple like that.

He eats both wet and dry, he seems ok in himself, so fingers crossed it's something like this. Yes he's neutered too

Cystitis...brought on in neutered males most commonly by stress according to my vet... ( which amused me because one of my cats that gets it is the most chilled out cats I have ever known but vet that the chilled out ones get stressed easier)..what works for my boy was changing his food to mostly wet with water added into it frequently and mixed so he licks up the gavy water.. I also put a couple more water bowls around the house..I leave some dry knibbles down but he mostly ignores them and goes for the mushy wet mixture ..he's defo peeing more because I have to clean out his litter tray more

I have recently had a baby, plus we have moved house, so the stress factor would make sense

Most likely cystitis since he's had to move plus you've rather unreasonably had a baby Wink

Well done for not waiting till Monday.

Vet is certain that it's cystitis, and nothing more sinister! We have medicine for him, and my husband has gone to get some nice ham to wrap the tablets in for him Grin. Phew!!

Cystitis - cover your house in Feliway and it will soon be gone.

I keep some emergency Feliway in stock for when my two girls fall out with each other and the cystitis starts up. It's always stress that brings it on.
