We rescued a lovely little girl, she'd been dumped and when DP brought her home my heart melted and we all lived happily ever after.
5 months on she likes to show her gratitude by bringing us little gifts. Every bloody day. This week we have had, a baby rat ( dead), a sparrow (dead), a sparrow (live), a moth (dead and gently placed on my lap) a baby mouse( dead, wet and placed on lap).
This morning there was a deathly odour in the utility room. After much huffing and puffing trying to move the big fridge I found, underneath it, a bloated mouse corpse which disintegrated as I tried to remove it.
Bloody vile.
This is the face of a murderer!

I had a dead mouse under something when The Lodger left the house at one point. It's a unique smell isn't it? Sort of a cross between gas and decaying sardines. Luckily, I managed to scoop it up whole. (I don't think that was a 'kill' by the way - more likely it just escaped there and then died for some reason.)

It is a unique smell Cosie, one you have experienced it it's never forgotten. PaintedBoy is disgusted with it all. He only catches flies and hair bands 😀

Dcat brought down a fat wood pigeon once. It was nearly as big as her. Luckily we have no cat flap so it was left on the back step.

She gifts us something almost every day.

I've always had male cats and none of them have brought me gifts. Is it just female cats that do this?

Years ago I heard such a clattering over and over again. The cat was trying to get a dead seagull through the cat flap!! Tortoiseshell Queen killed anything that got in her way.Black Tom cat used to bring worms in during the night and wake us up by talking loudly to them!!

When I was pg the cats used to bring home magpies - dead or alive it didn't matter to them :o
I think they used to hunt together - one on the ground providing a distraction and the other up the tree.

Bengal cross boy brought in a live pigeon through the catflap (& it's a small flap!)

I heard its feet clacketing on the laminate & went to investigate - they were circling each other warily. I can't imagine how he got it through the hole, apparently uninjured (I took it outside & it wasn't there later so assume it got away)

Have also had dead shrews, with & without heads, & just one small dead bird so far - nothing decomposing yet thank god.

He's only just over a year old though & is a big beast. I dread to think what I have to look forward to Shock

We had a racing pigeon. The owner was furious when we rang to tell them. Accused us of lying and stealing his best bird and wanted us to post the rings as 'proof' it was dead. Confused

When I was v heavily pregnant, one of mine brought me a live rabbit. I had to chase the fecking thing all around the kitchen.

We've also had a bat, a squirrel, and more mice than you can shake a stick at. We think all these gifts were from our hunting machine cat. The other tends to present us with grass, leaves and a pitiful meow...

I can always tell when a local cat is stalking the magpies that live in the tree by my bedroom window. The flipping noise! I think that if/when they give up round here, they do so just for some peace and quiet. Smile

It's not just girls that do it. My beautiful ( no longer here ) Siamese and Bengal boys were experts at bringing in friends. Rabbits in the kitchen, a Pheasant behind the sofa, bats, moles and I once found a frog in a shoe. Rodent entrails often appeared on the kitchen floor too. PaintedBoy is an Oriental and it's all a bit beneath him.

Perhaps I've been lucky. Currently catless but it could a change with the next one I get which will also be a boy. For the record all pets I've had with the exception of 2 boring female rats and an African land snail who couldn't make his mind up, I've always had male pets.

Got breakfast in bed the other day - a dead baby bird.
A Siamese we had years ago when I lived with my parents brought home a stuffed clown toy belonging to a little girl up the road and somehow carried it over about four garden fences despite it being about as big as him. Gave my mom a shock when she found it on the back doorstep.
A friend's Siamese regularly brings her socks, knickers, gloves etc, nicked from the neighbours' houses!

I got a nasty shock one morning a few years ago around 5am, when I heard a sudden frantic banging noise from inside my bedroom. After I had managed to slow my heart rate down to a normal level again I investigated and discovered a small bird behind a chest of drawers. It had obviously been caught and stunned, but not killed, and had somehow managed to hide until it woke up at dawn. We DP caught it and released it outside, so it has a happy ending. Not very gruesome at all, but it sticks out in my mind because it gave me SUCH a shock!

It's a mole cricket, scary-looking but very docile thankfully. About 3 inches long and aeronautically challenged despite having wings Grin

Looks like a cricket type thing to me cozie. Or an alien.

The worst I've had is a frog that screamed. When DH and MCat were bachelors, he got presented with 4 stoats over 2 days, as well as live partridges and headless bunnies, mice in shoes/pockets etc.

Little Monsieur has realised I don't like sceaming frogs or mice that he's "making friends" with, so brings me sticks and flower prunings.

No not from the UK cozie. Also had a snake courtesy of boycat and fresh lizard from kittycat Grin

My guys brought me three black birds and placed them in pieces in a triangle under a stack of IKEA chairs like some kind of sacrificial arrangement.

I only ever found five legs. Can only assume leg #6 is still in my house. Somewhere.

Hmm

I was also brought a mouse when I was really poorly. I was on the sofa watching Moulin Rouge under a duvet. Too ill to actually move.

The mouse was placed on my chest on top of the duvet by a kindly cat. I was too ill to do anything about it so I was left there staring at this fucking dead mouse lying on my tits with Ewan McGregor singing in the background.

Was a good ten minutes before I found the strength to flick it onto the floor...

My cat has a bell on her collar. She always looks annoyed by this. Once though a huge spider ran under the washing machine and there was no way I could move it out. I was wondering where it was for a couple of days then got home one day to a very proud looking cat, fluffing her chest fur out. DD ran round the sofa and shouted mummy there's a spider. The spider was dead. I love my cat.
