The litter tray

When to worry

My 2yo fluffy cat has had a bout of diarrhoea. She doesn't always clean her bum well, and it was dried all down her leg yesterday. Today she woke me by vomiting outside my bedroom door and the sick smelled and looked like poo. She had a clean bum and seemed OK in herself but the mess she made was awful!

Taking her to the vet any time soon is very hard (can't drive and have no support or able to take time off work at the moment and I'm going into hospital myself for tests this afternoon, and I have a child with complex needs to take care off). I would do anything for my cats and hate that I'm not taking her to get checked out.

But then again she has probably eaten something (probably that was formally alive) which was unwise.

Wwyd? Am I neglecting her by swing how she is later before I try to get her seen?

If her vomit smells of poo, it could be she has a blockage. Diarrhea can also be a symptom of that, as in the drippy stuff makes it's way past the blockage.

She'll be particularly prone to blockages caused by hair-balls being a long hair. Do you give her a helping hand with grooming, to get rid of moulted hair?

I think Pets at Home's in-house vets are open until about 8pm.

Thanks. She has been ok since yesterday morning. Hopefully if it was a blockage it's eased.

Yes I brush her every day (she loves it)

I can get her to the vets more easily on Thursday if she has any more symptoms, but she seems fine for now. Obviously if she seems very unwell I will blow off work and get her sorted out.
