Something really odd has happened...

He has always been a very independent boy...not remotely cuddly, best we get is a few strokes and some chat.He loves DS2 best and will lie on his bed with him, but he's no lap cat.

But since his monday shave he appears to have had a personality transplant!
Winding round my legs, coming for fuss, leaping on my bed to lie next to me and actually purring..he rarely purrs!!!
I think he is genuinely a LOT more comfy without his incredibly thick fur..and of course with the matts gone, but he has had thick (not always matted!) fur all his life. It seems very odd that he is suddenly loving!

I, of course am loving it, and making the most of it!
He doesn't seem unduly bothered by his baldy appearance either... but that tum IS shameful... fatso!
Definitely going to try and keep it shorter once it has grown again.. bit of a shame for a MC but unless he REALLY changes so much we can groom him, it's probably better!

Knowing that your DCs are all adults / almost adults, it's probably a daft question to ask if you might be pregnant Medusa?

NHS cat used to hate me but when I was pg he fell in love with me and wouldn't leave me alone...

Well I'd never have to work again if I was as I'd sell my story to the papers :) I'm 48 and had a hysterectomy at 35, so think we can rule that one out!!!!

Aw love him. My cat Troy was born 2 days before my niece. As they were growing up he ignored her and run away when she came over. It was a shame as she loves animals.

In January at the age of 5 Troy was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and heart failure. My niece came over as she wanted to see him and presented him with a toy mouse. Troy was all over her, rubbing up against her, allowing her to stroke and brush him. He was a different cat. My niece was delighted with the change.

Sadly Troy died suddenly a month ago as a result of his illness but I have some lovely photos of them both together and my niece will treasure the fact Troy loved her in the end.

Maybe he realises that he has you to thank for being more comfortable. My groomer uses a dog grooming rake and a metal wide tooth comb and my Persians have not had any knots since and I get loads of hair off. She thinks furminators are rubbish as they don't deal with the undercoat. I must admit I think she's right.

Really common in shaved cats to suddenly become loving after shave. Zoom Groom is really good for these cats getting right into the under coat and as it is rubber you can start even when they have only recently been shaved.

Could it be that he loves the change of sensation on his skin rather than in his fur?

I agree with Desolate - I bet it's the new sensation of feeling things against his skin. Wonder if it will be itchy when it grows back?!

Still, this is the comb I use now and it's brilliant. Gets more off than the furminator and they love it. It also doesn't make them static. I have had no knots since using it. Think it was about £7 from pets at home.

My cat was so affectionate the other night I did briefly wonder if she was in labour, as the only other time she's been so loving was when she was giving birth (she arrived preggers by the way!)
