We're thinking of re-homing a 1yr male cat (from a private seller). The owner has told me that he hasn't been neutered as he is an indoor cat. This is something that we would get done, but.... in the initial few days in his new home, is he likely to spray everywhere?

You might be lucky even though the move will likely stress him a bit and he has new territory.
Maybe get some Feliway? Phone up the vet first thing though and book him in for Relinquishment.

Thank you Cozie, I think I may arrange to take him straight to the vet. Just a bit worried it will be very stressful for him. Hopefully we will have a few years to make it up to him though

He might be OK with it all. She doesn't sound like a very responsible owner, though. Was he with her as a pet or was she thing of having him as a breeding cat do you know?

We used Zylkene powder in the food of our nervous cat when we moved house (South England to Scotland!) and it really chilled him out. You might find he's like my other cat though, he didn't bat an eyelid to the move, new baby or when we got our puppy!

Not in my own experience. Hormones is hormones and even an indoor cat won't avoid them coursing through the system I reckon.
